Multi-Family & Commercial Services

Waste management for apartments, condos, and businesses

Important Notice

The City of Abbotsford's curbside collection service does NOT cover multi-family residences (apartments, condos, townhouses) or commercial properties. These properties must arrange private waste collection services.

Multi-Family Residents

If you live in an apartment, condo, or townhouse complex, your building's property manager or strata is responsible for arranging waste collection through a licensed private hauler.

What You Can Do:

  • Use your building's recycling and composting bins properly
  • Take recyclables to drop-off depots if your building doesn't collect them
  • Encourage your strata/manager to improve recycling programs
  • Use EPR depot programs for electronics, batteries, paint, etc.

Property Managers & Businesses

All multi-family buildings and commercial properties must provide waste separation services for garbage, recycling, and organics as required by local bylaws.

Requirements:

  • Mandatory source separation for recyclables and compostables
  • Contract with licensed private waste hauler
  • Provide separate bins for all three streams
  • Post clear signage showing what goes where
